2026 Auckland Backgammon Tournament

Time: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Entry Fee: NO ENTRY FEE
Players: Only open to Backgammon Players living in or domiciled in Auckland.

Format
Knockout
Match Points: 11 Points
Baffle boxes are preferred.
Tournament Director (AJM) will use AI to determine positions in the knockout table.
Prize
Beautiful trophy for 1st place finish. The trophy will be in the possession of the winner until the next Auckland Backgammon Tournament.
Only ANZBGF Members will be eligible for the trophy.

Provide: Name, Email Address, Phone Number
Deadline: 17:00 January 17, 2026
Scheduling Matches
Tournament starts January 19, 2026. Players will have one week to finish each round.
Players will be required to contact their opponent and schedule a time and day to play the match.
All matches must be played live. No matches are to be played online.
Default Venue (North of the Bridge): The Good Home Birkenhead – best time Monday 6:30 – 10:00 PM
Default Venue (South of the Bridge): Galbraith’s Ale House – best time Tuesday 6:00 – 10:00 PM
It is acceptable for two players to schedule a match at a different day, time, or venue, but both players must agree. If they cannot agree, the default venue is Galbraith’s for players living south of the bridge, and The Good Home for players living north of the bridge.
The default venue for a match between a player living south of the bridge and a player living north of the bridge is The Good Home.
Results and Pairings

TD will update the knockout sheet to determine next pairings.
Knockout table and players list will be distributed to all registered players.
Membership
To qualify for the prize, you must be an ANZBGF Member. If you are not a member, register at ANZBGF Membership.
