Two days of full on Backgammon.

October 28th: Standard Swiss Format. Everyone is guaranteed to play 5 – seven-point Matches. The pairings are random in the first Match. Players are not eliminated if they lose the first Match. No Player meets the same opponent twice. Successive rounds match Players with scores as similar to each other as possible. By the 3rd Match Experts are playing Experts, Average are playing Average and Novices are playing Novices.

October 29th: Top sixteen (16) Players from the Swiss Format will play Knockout Matches to determine 1st 2nd 3rd places.

Plate Tournament for those who do not make the Knockout Match.

Standard Swiss Format. Everyone will play 4 - seven-point Matches.

2023 North Island Backgammon Open is sponsored by ANZBGF and will be played using ANZBGF rules.

You do not have to be an Expert to enter the Tournament. You are guaranteed to play at least 5 – seven-point Matches against Players whose skill range is Expert to Novice.

It is a lot of fun and a very excellent Backgammon learning experience.

There will be an opportunity to have dinner together & play a few games of Chouette.
